| Report third Alfa Romeo 147 meeting on April 26, 2003 |
| After having two international 147 meetings in The Netherlands it was
time to move across the border. The 147 meeting was held in Belgium (near Spa-Francorchamps
in the Ardennes). Like the previous time the weather was not on our side. The previous meeting
we had to cope with the heaviest storm of the last 12 years, this time it was raining nearly all day.
Despite the weather 72 Alfa Romeo's from 6 countries (The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, England and Portugal) showed up at the meeting and we had a great day. We were allowed to park in the courtyard of an ancient abbey. Unfortunately at the last moment we were not allowed to use the whole courtyard since the Belgian Prime minister and the famous cyclist Eddie Merckx were coming to the abbey as well (not for our meeting though). Due to the fact that we had less space then we hoped for, our bella's were not parked very neat and that gave us some trouble with the staff of the museum and the local police. Luckely we could avoid parking tickets and everything turned out fine. In the museum we were offered breakfast by the Alfa Romeo dealership 'Counson et fils' from Basse-Bodeux which dealership we visited later that day. After having breakfast everybode went down to basement of the Museum to visit the museum of the famous circuit of Spa Francorshamps. After visiting the museum we started the engines of our cars to start a very nice tour through the Ardennes. Amazingly enough the whole group of 72 cars were able to stay together until we stopped for our picknick. The weather was during lunch time on our favour: it was dry and it started to rain again at the end of our lunch which made us move on again. The next part of the tour we had some difficulties in Limbourg and a few cars got temperary lost. Later that day a lot of people got lost in Spa, but we managed to get to the Alfa dealership with only a half hour delay. At the dealership we enjoyed our coffee and two Alfa's were chiptuned on the spot by the English tuning company Autodelta. When we left the dealership we headed for our final stop: an Italian restaurant in Chaudfontaine were we had a great diner and enjoyed each others company. And everybody is already looking forward to the next meeting. Click on the picture below to enter the photo section. ciao tutti, Johnny Stepien (co organiser) and Hans Rietveld |
